Tip #1: Don't eat the yellow snow! Kidding!!! I know that was a really bad joke, but here are some real tips that a friend emailed me and I wanted to share.
In the kitchen:
Peel a banana from the bottom to avoid the having to peel off the "stringy things".
Take your bananas apart at the stem when you get home. Leaving them together causes them to ripen faster.
Peppers with 3 "bumps" on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating raw; peppers with 4 "bumps" are firmer and better for cooking.
Add a teaspoon of water when cooking ground beef, it helps pull the grease away from the meat.
Add garlic at the start of cooking for a light taste, or at the end of cooking for a stronger taste.
Whipping canned frosting will double it's size. Less fat and calories per serving!
In the home:
Pick up broken glass with a moistened cotton ball. Less chance of getting cut.
Tape an empty paper towel tube on your vacuum hose and flatten the tip to get something that's fallen in a vent.
Use conditioner to shave your legs. Cheaper and more moisturizing!
Get rid of fruit flies by pouring a little apple cider vinegar and a couple drops of dish soap into a shallow container and filling with water. Put plastic wrap over container and poke holes in plastic with a fork. The flies fly in and get trapped.
Outside:
Sprinkle cornmeal where you have an ant problem. They can't digest it and will die.
Rub foggy windshields with a chalkboard eraser, doesn't leave streaks and smudges!
Keep small animals out of your plants by sprinkling with cayenne pepper. Safe for plants, but not rodents!
Put a dryer sheet in your pocket when hiking. Bye, bye mosquitoes.
Recycle newspapers by wetting them and putting around plants, cover with a thin layer of topsoil. Keeps moisture in and cuts down on weeds.
