As we approach the 2008 holiday season, we are becoming more and more acutely aware of the amount of need that exists around us. While many of us are feeling the effects of the downturn in the economy, there are millions of people around the world, many even in our own country, who don’t have enough food or money to heat their homes, and in the poorer nations of the world, these people don’t even have clean water or access to basic or emergency healthcare.
The One Dollar Give is a campaign to change the world one life at a time. Each day during December we will feature a different charity with a direct link to their donation page and ask you to donate just $1 to each charity. Our hope is that participants in the project will be willing to set aside $31 in December so that we can provide the funds for some awesome charities to do more of what they do every day.
As we head into 2009, we hope to continue The One Dollar Give on a weekly basis, featuring more great charities and watching our $1 donations add up. Although we’re starting out with charities that relate specifically to humanitarian needs, we’ll be expanding in 2009 to include environmental, research and other causes as well.
