Hi
I tried to post a comment but I think I deleted it and if this is a repeat, I'm sorry. Anyway, I'm trying to be more thrifty with my grocery bill and I see many moms out there doing this and paying next to nothing. But I feel overwhelmed with all the coupons and websites and different stores. I don't really have time to go from one store to the next..I could use a little advice. Also, can you explain this to me, probably not that difficult but for some reason, I don't really understand what you mean..sorry and Thanks.

Buy Quaker Rice Cakes $1.36 (Regular Price)
Use $1/1 (RP 3/29) -- is this a coupon?
Total OOP $.36

Hi, Yira!

One good thing about Walmart for those who can't go to different stores is that they price match competitor's ads. You just have to take the ad in with you and they will adjust the price at the register, so you can still get some really great deals by just going to one.

One good thing to do is to at least buy the Sunday paper for the coupon inserts and hit up friends and family for theirs. Then you can either clip every coupon you think you'll use and put it in a binder (I use a large three ring binder with baseball card protectors, then separate by category), or you can keep the entire insert and file by date. There are three main inserts, Red Plum (RP), Proctor & Gamble (PG), and Smart Source (SS).

Their are also some good sites like coupons.com (that's the coupon bar above my posts), and each paper insert has a site where you can print more. There are many more, but I use these the most. You just have to search around and see what works best for you.

You also need to remember that prices and coupons vary by region but sometimes that's better for you (my Kroger only doubles coupons up to $.50, but some in other areas triple up to $.35 and double up to $.50).

It does take some time to get started if you are making a binder or file, but once you get your system down it's easier. I spend about 15 minutes every Sunday evening clipping and filing coupons, and another 15-20 minutes making out my own personal grocery list and matching my coupons. I then spend about 5-10 minutes online to see if I can find any coupons for items that I don't have paper ones for.

Now, to explain the "lingo" in my match-ups. LOL

(RP 3/29) is the Red Plum insert that was in the March 29th newspaper. OOP means out of pocket. Some other's I use are: BOGO=Buy one get one free, ECB=Extra care bucks (CVS), and RR=Register Rewards (Walgreens).

I hope this helped a little bit. Let me know if there's anything I missed or didn't explain!

OK...I think I've got it now!! I do get just the Sunday paper delivered mostly for the coupons and comics and I also like to read the entertainment and book sections. I am going to get working slowly but surely on my coupons and trying to get the most for my money. Thanks for explaining this. I will be back often to check out your finds.

PS: Thanks for taking the time to view the video. I am so proud of him for all the hard work he puts into his music!!
