Tips for Tuesday

Household:

Freeze a waxy candle holder and then use a sharp knife to pry up a piece of the wax. It should all come off in one big piece.

Lay a cloth over your computer keyboard when not in use, to prevent dust, dirt and pet hair from getting under the keys.

Get the static out of a room by mixing one-part liquid fabric softener and 5 parts water in a spray bottle and misting the carpet.

Hide nail holes in the wall by rubbing toothpaste in them and smoothing with a damp sponge.

Sharpen scissors by cutting your SOS or Brillo pads in half. Great way to save on pads, too!

Food and Cooking:

Dust a serving platter with powdered sugar so your cake won't stick to it.

Put a rib of celery in your bread bag to keep the bread fresh longer.

Wrap the rest of the celery in foil before putting in the fridge. It will last much longer!

Use a meat baster for squeezing pancake batter into the pan for perfect pancakes.

For shiny bread crust, top with a mixture of egg and milk before baking.

Line your baking pans with foil before using. Little to no clean-up!

Cleaning:

Boil 1/4 C. vinegar and 1 C. water in the microwave. It will loosen splattered on food and deodorize at the same time.

Put a Denture Cleaning Tablet in the toilet bowl, after it dissolves, give the bowl a quick swirl with a brush. Less elbow grease needed!

Boil Coca-Cola in a burnt saucepan for easier cleaning.

Dust behind your TV, and then take a fabric softener sheet and rub all over the area. It will help repel the dust that is attracted to electronics.

Spot clean floors with a spray bottle of diluted floor cleaning solution instead of having to make a full bucket.
